Alison is a Development Officer at Community Southwark. She supports voluntary sector groups with advice around governance, funding and other organisational issues such as strategic planning and financial management. Alison can offer advice and support by phone, e-mail or one to one appointments at Community Southwark’ monthly sustainability surgeries and also develops resources and Community Southwark's bulletins for groups.
Amelia joined the team as Volunteer Services Officer in September 2017 to look after our Volunteer Advice Service. Our Volunteer Service provides free advice for anyone looking to volunteer in Southwark. Details of when these operate and how to book a 1:1 session can be found here.
Andrea supports the internal function of the Community Southwark including governance, finance, HR and membership. Her role is to manage the day-to-day office administration and outsourced services to support the smooth running of Community Southwark.
Catherine will work with local people, community groups, providers and commissioners to secure the best outcomes for patients and users of health and social care services. Catherine will lead on research and intelligence management to inform Healthwatch’s strategies and priorities.
Chithmini (Chip) joined Community Southwark and Healthwatch Southwark in November 2013. As the Engagement officer her role is to work with the local community to understand their needs as a small group, charity or individual to explore how Community Southwark and HWS might support and connect them with the opportunities we offer.
Clare joined Community Southwark as Programme Coordinator in November 2013. Her role involves providing support to the Development, Policy, Operations and Healthwatch teams by developing internal systems, overseeing events and training and bringing volunteer time and expertise to various projects. She also supports the team at Southwark Council and their fulfilment partners to deliver the Southwark Emergency Support Scheme.
Conor is an expert facilitator and coordinator of our corporate volunteering programme. He designs and leads projects in charities and community groups for teams of professionals from large corporates, helping them to step outside of their comfort zone and accomplish things they didn't believe they were capable of achieving. Conor is also a psychologist and coach, and a counsellor in training.
Deborah has 10 years experience in the public and voluntary and community sectors. Deborah has been at Community Southwark since 2010, delivering training, consultancy, governance reviews, organisational diagnostics and 1:1 advice.
Gordon has over 15 years experience of working in the voluntary and community sector; the majority of which has been spent in an infrastructure environment. Gordon was Head of Research for the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (sister council of NCVO) for nine years. Following NICVA, Gordon took up the post of Deputy Director of the Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR) based at Birkbeck College. Before joining Community Southwark he was the interim Chief Executive of Brighton and Hove Community and Voluntary Sector Forum.
Helen is Head of Southwark Giving. Helen’s role is to develop and lead this new giving partnership for the borough of Southwark.
Prior to joining Community Southwark Helen worked in philanthropy and corporate responsibility in the City Square Mile and Canary Wharf. Helen’s professional experience also includes influencing social policy in central government and for charities.
Herbert joined Community Southwark in September 2016 as Corporate Partnerships Co-ordinator for the Involve programme. His role is to develop a network of corporate partners and SMEs businesses that can engage in Employee Supported Volunteering. Before coming to Community Southwark, Herbert managed corporate partnerships at Street League – youth employment charity.
Ian joined Community Southwark in April 2015 from Peckham Voluntary Sector Forum taking his work in SE15 and helping develop new Community Action Networks in each of Southwark’s five community council areas. These will connect and empower local residents; act as a catalyst and facilitator for community activities and bring people together.
Jo's role is to support Community Southwark with communicating the work that they do to support the voluntary and community sector in Southwark. Jo works with the team in developing our monthly ebulletin, Community Southwark’s website and social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube.
Mariana's role as Evaluation & Impact support officer is to assist voluntary and community groups to improve their evaluation practices through 1:1 in depth support and workshops covering a wide range of topics related to impact evaluation. She has been proving this service since 2014 and has seen over 100 voluntary organisations. Mariana provides tailored support which includes helping groups to develop a Theory of Change, create outcomes frameworks, and revising programmes and systems based on evidence. Mariana has ten years of experience in the voluntary and community sector supporting grassroots organisations to improve capacities and designing programmes to better achieve social change. She has a MSc in Health, Community and Development.
Mat is a Project Co-ordiator for Involve. He works to plan and facilitate practical corporate volunteering days in and around Southwark. His work often includes facilitating environmental conservation, indoor and outdoor decorating/murals and carpentry.
Nathan joined Community Southwark in 2016 as the Outreach and Relationships Officer. His role is to identify and develop relationships with seldom heard and refugee communities within the borough, and to ensure that people have the support and information needed to become more active in their communities.
Robert's role as Community Engagement officer is to ensure that people have the support and information needed to take a more active role in their communities. This is achieved in a variety of ways including through supporting social action and campaigning. Robert is also charged with developing and maintaining our Soutwark CAN website and digital engagement strategy.
Steve joined Community Southwark in April 2016 as Partnerships and Policy Officer. His role will be to establish thematic voluntary and community sector groups to support the sector to build connections, identify emerging needs and develop responsive and influential models of representation for the sector. Prior to joining Community Southwark Steve spent many years in policy roles in Charities and in central government.
Truly manages our volunteering and engagement services. She oversees the development of Community Action Networks in Southwark and is also responsible for running of our volunteering brokerage and good practice service. Finally Truly is overseeing the development of a new giving partnership for the borough called Southwark Giving. Truly has over 10 years experience in the voluntary sector from teaching ESOL and managing volunteers to providing development support to groups, and has an MSc in Voluntary and Community Sector Studies.
