Surrey Docks Farm are looking for Support Volunteers to help with their 'Plot to Shop' project's students.
Plot to Shop is a training project for adults with learning disabilities to develop skills in gardening, harvesting and retail - being responsible for choosing produce to grow on the Farm, right through to the packaging and selling in a new Farm Shop.
They are looking for people who are interested to support adults with learning disabilities to develop these skills.
Typical duties include:
- Working side by side students in the Shop and at the Plots
- Prompting and encouraging them to carry out the task
- Cleaning up after the session
Gardening experience is useful, but far more important is a person who is enthusiastic, patient and supportive to students and understands the aim of the project. They are looking for someone who can definitely commit to volunteering with them for 1 day per week for a minimum of 3 months. The role is available on Thursdays and/or Fridays from 10am-3pm.
