Volunteer Development Worker role

Volunteer Development Worker role

For over twenty years Home-Start Southwark has prevented family crisis and breakdown by supporting parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children in Southwark’s most deprived areas.

They achieve this by training local volunteers to provide parenting support, encouragement and professional friendship in people’s homes and through support groups and structured early intervention work in the community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed, self-motivated, confident individual with strong presentation and training skills. You will be responsible for the recruitment, training and placing of volunteers; developing volunteer training and marketing volunteering opportunities. You will liaise with and maintain effective relationships with relevant organisations to ensure that sufficient volunteers are recruited to meet the demands of the service.

The successful applicant will understand the needs of parents and young children, have experience of managing, delivery and developing projects and generating new ideas. This is a new post funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
