The Burgess Park Food Project was set up in 2012 to develop and establish community food growing in Burgess Park for the benefit of those living locally.

About the project

The Burgess Park food Project is a volunteer led community garden in Burgess Park. It is a Permaculture Association Land Centre and local hub of gardening and sustainability.

It's a large site with bees and chickens and the team are developing a forest garden, growing fruit and vegetables and carrying out all the activities related to that, e.g. composting and building soil.

It's a new but growing organisation, always on the look out for new volunteers to drop into sessions or help with events and project management and development.

The aims are:

To develop and establish community food growing in Burgess Park for the benefit of those living locally.

The project will:

  • Work with the local community to increase the understanding of healthy, local and fresh food.
  • Promote food growing, organic horticulture, permaculture and other ecological issues through skill sharing and volunteering.
  • Bring people together, building links within the community for groups and individuals.
  • Help improve the local green environment in Burgess Park and the surrounding area.
  • Help regenerate the local community, contribute to sustainable development in London and enhance the life of the park.

The project is currently open as follows:

  • Tuesdays 11-4 shared lunch at 1pm
  • Thursdays 10-4 shared lunch at 1pm
  • Sundays 1-4

We have a number of additional activities and events running throughout the year.
