The Ivy House is London’s first co-operatively owned pub, rescued on behalf of the community under the Localism Act and trading solely for the benefit of the community. It is asset locked and profits are reinvested.    We offer an affordable, welcoming space for local residents to meet, and a range of arts events and activities for all ages, including jazz, folk and rock music, comedy, poetry, drama and children’s classes. We aim to promote social cohesion and a sense of community wellbeing, and ensure the pub remains an integral part of the neighborhood.   We also contribute to Southwark’s economy by providing employment for local people and using a range of local suppliers and services.  We offer community shares, allowing people to become members and participate in the running of the project, and we have a volunteer management committee. We are members of Locality, the Plunkett Foundation and Co-ops UK.
